Tonights club night was well attended as we were fortunate to have Robert Stewart, Chairman of Solent Bonsai Society talking on his bonsai journey creating, growing, styling and developing mame and shohin bonsai trees. It was a very interesting talk and gave us lots to think about when we are working on our own trees. He inspired us to want to review our trees, as well as take inspiration from nature and look around our gardens for seedlings and he is a keen advocate of developing mame from cuttings. Thank you Robert for a great and enjoyable evening of bonsai. Continue reading Small trees with Robert Stewart
A fun day was had by all at the Chris Thomas workshop and as usual Chris was on hand throughout the day to help us all with our trees. He worked round the room guiding everyone on their own trees and it was useful to also hear his advice on other peoples trees as you learn so much. Continue reading Chris Thomas April workshop
Here is a brief photographic history of my Yew tree (Taxus Baccata) which I bought back in 2002 as a field grown tree from a bonsai nursery and have worked on it ever since and kept a photographic record of my work so far over the past 10 years.
This month was a very well attended competition with 11 entries and the winner was Malcolm in 1st place with his Japanese Maple followed by Chris J with his Chinese Juniper and Tony Oswin with his White Pine in joint 2nd place and Amelia with her Japanese Forsythia in 3rd place.

The first contingent of the trip to Lodder Bonsai (Hoka-en Bonsai Studio) in Holland, has returned. Derek Amelia, Ross and myself, visited this nursery on 7th and 8th February and had a fantastic time. Although we have been visiting for some years now, it never fails to impress and give us some very difficult choices from the huge selection of indoor and outdoor trees, pots and other bonsai equipment. After 15 years of being the Chairman for Warminster Bonsai Club, Adrian has stepped down from this role. He is one of the inaugural members of the club and fondly remembered the early years of the clubs beginnings. Clive Knight was nominated as the new Chairman and we are pleased to welcome him into this role. Adrian was presented with a small token of appreciation for all the hard work over the past 15 years, and he will remain a member of the club and we hope to see him at the monthly meetings.
