Septembers tree of the month only attracted 3 members, they included Sally M, Tony D and Clive H.
We had 9 entries this month and it was judged by Manuel. 1st was Tony with his Blackthorn, 2nd was Clive H with his Juniper & 3rd was Sally with her Korean Hornbeam. Apologies for not announcing results at the meeting but will make sure for the next one.
Because of the bring and buy sale and the rehersal for Newbury show there were fewer trees. Joint 1st was Wilf Acer Malcolm Azalea Second Chris Acer Deshojo
This months meeting was the Tom Taylor Trophy ( one of former members when the club was forming) where members bring in their favourite tree and then give a short speech on why they like their particular tree.
Again another well attended meeting, the open format seems to be working well..
This month was a very well attended competition with 11 entries and the winner was Malcolm in 1st place with his Japanese Maple followed by Chris J with his Chinese Juniper and Tony Oswin with his White Pine in joint 2nd place and Amelia with her Japanese Forsythia in 3rd place.
This month was a well attended tree of the month competition and the winning tree was Tony’s Hawthorn. Second place went to Bob for his English Oak and accent and third place went to Sandra for her Deshojo Maple.
January got off to a good start with “Winter Silhouette” tree of the month. The following members bought trees in for the competition. Derek, Sally, Amelia, Ross, Chris, Sandra And Clive H. Results are as follows: First Clive H and Joint second were Amelia, Ross And Chris. No other places were recorded.
December’s competition for the Hank Yarde Trophy rounds off the season with the aptly named subject of a Bonsai decorated in the Christmas Style. 7 entries were submitted by the following club members: Ross, Amelia, Sandra, Sally, Clive H., Derek & Clive K.
