Another popular workshop with Lee,
This was the first event of its kind held in this area.
This was the second workshop the club had arranged with Chris Continue reading Second Chris Thomas workshop
This is the first in a series of workshops the club has arranged for this year.
The bonsai community sadly lost a true character earlier this year. Tony Webber was heavily involved with the Phoenix Bonsai Group and the Wessex Bonsai Society and spent a great amount of time and devotion to his hobby.
His trees will be auctioned in Salisbury on Sunday 3rd July. For further details see bonsaiauction.uk
Sandra Knight tribute
It is with great sadness that I write a tribute to Sandra Knight who sadly passed away last week. Sandra was a very big part of the Warminster bonsai club, not only did she support her husband Clive with his bonsai trees, she was a keen bonsai enthusiast herself and had many lovely trees which she was very proud of.
She will be very greatly missed by all who knew her as she was a very friendly and sociable person who loved going to bonsai events and meeting the people that went to them.
She was treasurer at Warminster and Salisbury clubs and worked hard in keeping accurate accounts and keeping the clubs solvent. Our sympathies go to Clive whom she was married to for forty years.
She loved bonsai and club members were fortunate to see some of her trees on club nights when she entered tree of the month. She particularly used to enjoy entering the Christmas tree of the month and everyone will remember her well-decorated and colourful bonsai trees.
We will miss Sandra greatly but not forget her and her love of small bonsai. A small tribute was placed on the Warminster Bonsai display at the Swindon Show dedicated the display to her love of the art.
This July we had a return Saturday workshop with Lee Verhorevoort due to members commitments there were only six of us.
With this in mind we all brought in plenty of trees, one because you know Lee will get round a small group and cover so much , and two hold him up to give you time to carry out the work he told you to do on the first time round.
I have said it before but if you wanted to come along as just an observer you would pick up a real wealth of information as Lee goes round discussing each persons tree and what he advises is required.
I had brought in a Juniper which required complete rewiring so could not spend much time following Lee round to listen, all of us did say how much we enjoyed the day and could see the improvements made to our trees and would recommend him for an entertaining day.
We had a Saturday workshop in July with Lee Verhorevoort back by popular demand, there were ten members who all brought in a variety of trees for help and advice from Lee.
