Tree of the month for February

Visit to Wessex Bonsai Society winter image show
Sandra and I popped down to the Wessex Bonsai Society winter image show held at the Kinson Community Centre on Sunday 12th Feb, this is a regular trip for us as the people are always friendly and the trees are always of interest plus two of our members are also members of their society. Lodder Bonsai and Hoka-en Bonsai Studio
The first contingent of the trip to Lodder Bonsai (Hoka-en Bonsai Studio) in Holland, has returned. Derek Amelia, Ross and myself, visited this nursery on 7th and 8th February and had a fantastic time. Although we have been visiting for some years now, it never fails to impress and give us some very difficult choices from the huge selection of indoor and outdoor trees, pots and other bonsai equipment. Chairmans chat February meeting
February was a busy month for the club certainly our guest speaker John Trott generated some healthy discussion points also helped by Amelia ( I must get you to speak more often as you hide little gems from us )

News letter No 2 February meeting
Our February meeting was a talk & practical on repotting given by John Trott.Members were asked to bring in trees that had problems or faults which needed sorting.We laid out the tables in a circle & John worked his way around each tree discussing each one & then letting each member work on their tree.
Swindon Winter Image Show 2012

The year has begun with the Swindon winter image show.This year we decided to change the appearance of our display.Starting with the cloth we changed this to a dark green which gels with the cream back drop quite nicely.We looked at the table & decided to make some new stands in Jacobean oak with 4 little legs in a Japanese style in differing heights.All told the presentation package was looking good so far.
Chairman’s Chat
This years AGM was of mixed feelings for me as Adrian was standing down as our chairman due to moving further away, as Sandra said when we joined the club it had very humble beginnings, if we had eight members for a meeting we thought we where doing well
Tree of the month January 2012
January got off to a good start with “Winter Silhouette” tree of the month.
The following members bought trees in for the competition. Derek, Sally, Amelia, Ross, Chris, Sandra And Clive H.
Results are as follows: First Clive H and Joint second were Amelia, Ross And Chris. No other places were recorded.
Chairman’s chat
After 15 years of being the Chairman for Warminster Bonsai Club, Adrian has stepped down from this role. He is one of the inaugural members of the club and fondly remembered the early years of the clubs beginnings. Clive Knight was nominated as the new Chairman and we are pleased to welcome him into this role. Adrian was presented with a small token of appreciation for all the hard work over the past 15 years, and he will remain a member of the club and we hope to see him at the monthly meetings.
